As a single mom, I volunteered at my daughter's preschool in order to afford tuition. I’ve relied on food stamps, lived paycheck-to-paycheck, and put myself through college and law school. As a former small-business owner, I know what it’s like to struggle to stay afloat and keep food on the table. My daughter and I are still working to pay off our student loans. Hard work and determination pays off and I will fight for all working people to have a chance to succeed. If elected I would be the first Native American woman elected to Congress, here is why it matters.
