Congressman Earl Blumenauer Endorses Deb Haaland for Congress

My name is Earl Blumenauer, and I am honored to represent Oregon's 3rd District in Congress. I am especially involved in issues and committees related to health, public services, and human rights; and, I have championed the need to legalize marijuana. In 2013, I co-authored the report “The Path Forward: Rethinking Federal Marijuana Policy.”

Today, I'm proud to announce my endorsement of Deb Haaland for New Mexico's 1st Congressional District. Deb has been strong in her support for marijuana legalization throughout her professional career and campaign, and I know she is committed to advancing the necessary federal regulatory and legal changes to make it happen.

Deb also understands that there is much more at play and at stake with marijuana legalization. It's no coincidence that one of the biggest lobbies against marijuana legalization is the pharmaceutical industry -- because they know marijuana can positively impact a person's health, and even curb medication dependence.

Deb has the experience, expertise, and dedication to join me and other Members of Congress in advocating for the urgent need to legalize marijuana – for the health, safety and fairness to all Americans. She is a dynamic leader who I know will fight hard for the many needs in New Mexico, to help turn around its struggling economy.

We need Deb's voice and values in Washington, and I urge you to support her today with an investment in her campaign.
